Mohun Bagan SG Held! Kidderpore SC Stun with Spirited Comeback in CFL 2026 Draw

Kolkata, July 16: Mohun Bagan SG and Kidderpore SC played out a 1–1 draw in the Calcutta Football League 2026 on Thursday afternoon at the Mohun Bagan Ground. Mehtab Hossain’s Kidderpore SC came from behind in the second half to snatch a point from their opponents with a comeback goal.

The match was marked by misplaced passes and physical football throughout. Mohun Bagan SG struggled with misplaced passes, particularly in the final third, and failed to capitalise on several scoring opportunities. Suhail Bhat received and created a number of chances with the help of his teammates but failed to find the back of the net. Kiyan Nassiri also tried his best but was unable to score.

On the other hand, Kidderpore SC started the match on the front foot with attacking intent. However, as the game progressed, they shifted to a more defensive approach and relied on physical football, which resulted in them in the end conceding several yellow cards.

In the 27th minute, Mohun Bagan SG took the lead through a swift attacking move initiated by Kiyan Nassiri. He made a run down the right flank, entered the box, and set up the ball for Sandeep Mallick, who placed it into the back of the net.

However, the lead did not last long as Kidderpore SC found the equaliser early in the second half. In the 48th minute, David Motla played the ball to Subham Sarkar inside the left side of the box. Subham swiftly cut past his marker and squared the ball for Tuhin, who made no mistake in sending it into the net.

In the 70th minute, Mohun Bagan SG wasted an opportunity when Sayan Banerjee, from the left side of the box, minus the ball for Suhail Bhat, who attempted a long-range shot that went off target. However, he could have passed it to Bivan Jyoti, who was unmarked and well positioned at that time.

Within six minutes, Kidderpore SC got a golden chance to take the lead. While trying to stop their brilliant attack, Dippendu Biswas committed a foul and gave them a free-kick from just outside the left side of the box, but they failed to utilise the chance.

With a counter, Mohun Bagan SG created a chance in the 78th minute when Sayan Banerjee again set a minus for closely standing Kiyan Nassiri near the goal line, but before he could attempt a shot, experienced Kidderpore SC defender Bikramjit Singh made an intercepting clearance.

The last ten minutes of regulation time were all about Mohun Bagan SG, who continued to attempt a goal, while their opponents stopped them firmly. In between, at the 84th minute mark, Sayan Banerjee’s bicycle kick missed by inches.

The very next minute, Bivan Jyoti earned a foul in a promising position just outside the box. Kiyan Nassiri took the free-kick, but his shot went far over the crossbar. In additional time, at 90+3 minutes, the pressure increased in the Kidderpore SC box as Mohun Bagan SG players attempted to build up shot after shot, but the defence stood firm. The ball eventually reached Robilal Mandi outside the box, who attempted a long shot, but it hit the crossbar, narrowly missing the lead-scoring opportunity for the Green and Maroon.

The final whistle confirmed a 1-1 draw. Despite creating several chances, Mohun Bagan SG failed to find the decisive goal as Kidderpore SC held firm to secure a valuable points.
