Must-Win Battle: Mohun Bagan SG Ready for Intense ISL 2025-26 Clash vs Odisha FC

Kolkata, March 5: Mohun Bagan SG are going to play their fourth fixture of the ongoing ISL tomorrow against Odisha FC from 5:00 PM at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. While Odisha FC are sitting in 9th position in the points table with two draws, Mohun Bagan SG are on top with nine points. However, Lobera believes the match will be competitive, as he knows about them well, not as one of them anymore, but now as an opponent.

Following the appeal made by Mohun Bagan Super Giant regarding the full stadium closure for their home match against Odisha FC, the All India Football Federation has partially reconsidered the decision and allowed around 25,000 spectators to attend the match at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. Meanwhile, club owner Sanjiv Goenka announced that two free tickets will be provided to fans, aiming to ensure supporters can still be part of the game.

The Mariners are happy with their current position after winning three matches in a row, showing the strong winning mentality within the club, and they set the target is always to win every match and maintain consistency throughout the season. Speaking about the campaign, head coach Sergio Lobera added that the league is shorter this season, so the margin for mistakes is very small.

Speaking about the challenge from Odisha FC, Lobera said they have very good Indian players who can be dangerous, he said the team needs to be careful and pay attention to the small details of the game. At the same time, the focus will remain on Mohun Bagan SG, as the team wants to continue improving and play in the way they usually do with confidence. Lobera also added that his squad has good depth, with quality players both on the field and on the bench, and as a coach his job is to choose the best combination to win while approaching the match in a serious way.

In the last five meetings between Mohun Bagan SG and Odisha FC during the time of Sergio Lobera as their coach, Mohun Bagan won two matches, Odisha FC have won once, while two games ended in draws. With such a balanced record, the upcoming contest is expected to be another closely fought encounter between the two sides.
