Kolkata, March 6: Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued their impressive title defending run in the ongoing Indian Super League with another five-star performance. In their fourth match against Odisha FC, Mohun Bagan SG secured a 5–1 victory on Friday evening at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. With a historic and shining performance from Jamie Maclaren, the Mariners outshone Odisha before heading into the season’s first away game.
Mohun Bagan SG displayed a breathtaking first half with bunches of goal. Within the 14th minute, they scored the first goal from a swift attacking move. Dimitri Petratos back-heeled the ball to Subhasish Bose at the left edge of the box. Subhasish then sent the ball into the box, where Jamie Maclaren finished it into the net.

In the 24th minute, Liston Colaco delivered a pass from the right inside the box and laid the ball back to Jamie Maclaren, who sent it into the net to put Mohun Bagan Super Giant 2–0 ahead.

At the mark of 42nd minute, from a pass by Subhasish Bose, Alberto Rodriguez unleashed a long-range stunner to make it 3–0 for the Mariners.

However, within minutes they conceded a goal. Odisha FC launched a counter-attack, where Rahim Ali beat his marker, entered the box and went past the advancing Vishal Kaith before sending the ball into the net.
As soon as the Juggernauts reduced the score gap, Jamie Maclaren, continuing his scoring rhythm, restored the three-goal lead. In the first-half’s additional time at 45+2nd minute from another pass by Liston Colaco, Maclaren completed his hat-trick to make it 4–1 for Mohun Bagan SG before the half-time whistle.

The second-half display was not as lively as the first half, as the earlier tempo slowed down. However, Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued to attack. In the final quarter of the match, they picked up the pace again. In the 87th minute, Jamie Maclaren scored his fourth goal to make it 5–1 for Mohun Bagan. And the Mariners’ magnificent Macca, created a historic record by becoming only the second player in Indian Super League history to score four goals in a single match, after Modou Sougou, who still holds the individual record.

In stoppage time at 90+2nd minute Liston Colaco showed his individual brilliance by running down the left flank and entering the box before unleashing a grounded shot towards the far post. However, the effort went wide by inches and could have been the sixth goal. Still, the night belonged to Jamie Maclaren as the match was sealed in his name.
With four wins from four matches, collecting twelve points, scoring fourteen goals and holding a +12 goal difference, Mohun Bagan Super Giant has capitalised on the top position of the Indian Super League points table.
