Mohammedan SC Held to Frustrating 1-1 Draw by Wari AC After Controversial Penalty | CFL 2026

Kolkata, July 23: Mohammedan SC and Wari AC played out a 1–1 draw in their Calcutta Football League 2026 fixture at the Mohammedan Sporting Ground on Thursday afternoon.

The second half brings both goals, as the first half ended with neither side able to break the deadlock. In the 51st minute, Mohammedan SC broke the deadlock through a defensive lapse by Wari AC. During an attack, Adison Singh was challenged by Balaram Mandi while making his way into the box, resulting in a penalty. The decision heated up the ground as the Wari players protested the referee’s call. However, Israfil Dewan stepped up and converted the penalty to give Mohammedan SC the lead.

Within three minutes, Lalthankima scored, again through Adison, but the goal was ruled out as there was a foul inside the box during the move by the Black and White Brigade. However, Wari AC found their way back into the game soon after. From a corner kick on the right at 60th minute, Prabik Ghising delivered a cross which Roshan Chetri headed into the net to give Wari AC a 1–1 equaliser.

After the equaliser, Wari AC increased their attacking rhythm and continued to press forward, but Mohammedan SC’s defence were difficult to break down. In the 81st minute, Wari AC almost took the lead. From a long ball, Sujal Munda attempted a header towards the empty net, but before the ball could cross the goal line, the Mohammedan SC goalkeeper reached it.

The intensity of the game increased in the final minutes as both sides made strong tackles and battled for every ball, turning the contest into a physical encounter. In the end, neither side could find a winning goal, with the result, both Mohammedan SC and Wari AC had to settle for a point each after an evenly contested encounter. Despite late efforts from both sides to snatch a winner, the match ended in a 1–1 draw.
