Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City share spoils in goalless draw

Amrinder Singh and TP Rehenesh starred as Kerala Blasters and Mumbai City failed to convert chances in a goalless encounter.

Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC were forced to share the spoils after a goalless draw in their ISL 2026-27 encounter. Both teams created promising opportunities throughout the contest but failed to find the breakthrough, with goalkeepers Amrinder Singh and TP Rehenesh making crucial saves. Mumbai City came close to scoring through Akash Mishra, who struck the crossbar in the second half, while Kerala Blasters pushed for a late winner. However, neither side could convert their chances into goals as the match ended 0-0.

Both sides create chances but fail to break the deadlock

Kerala Blasters began on the front foot, with Adrian Luna and Mohammed Sanan combining to create attacking opportunities in the opening minutes. Luna came close with a header in the fifth minute, while Ruivah Hormipam also threatened from a difficult angle soon after.

Mumbai City gradually found their rhythm and responded through Leandro Otormin, Noufal PN and Muhammad Ajsal. Amrinder Singh was called into action to deny Noufal on two occasions, including a shot from close range in the 23rd minute.

Kerala continued to threaten through Sanan and Korou Singh. Sanan tested TP Rehenesh with a long-range effort in the 18th minute, while Korou forced another save in the 26th minute after being set up by Nebojsa Kosovic.

Both teams struggled to maintain their attacking momentum consistently, with fouls and interruptions breaking up the flow. Mumbai City were also forced into an early change when Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung replaced the injured Leandro Otormin in the 39th minute.

Kerala Blasters had further opportunities towards the end of the half, but Freddy Lallawmawma’s long-range effort and Kosovic’s header failed to find the target. Despite chances at both ends, the teams went into the break with the scoreline at 0-0.

Mishra hits the crossbar as goalkeepers keep the contest goalless

Mumbai City came out with greater attacking intent after the restart. Kerala Blasters introduced MS Sreekuttan for Korou Singh at half-time, but the visitors continued to threaten from set-pieces and open play.

The decisive moment of the second half almost arrived in the 53rd minute when Akash Mishra struck the crossbar with a header following a set-piece situation. Carlos Delgado also missed an opportunity from close range as Mumbai City increased the pressure on the Kerala defence.

Kerala responded through Freddy Lallawmawma and Adrian Luna, both of whom attempted to test Rehenesh from outside the box. The Mumbai City goalkeeper remained alert, while Amrinder Singh was equally impressive at the other end, denying Zothanpuia and Noufal PN in quick succession around the 70th and 71st minutes.

Kerala Blasters made attacking changes in the 60th minute, bringing on Andre Green and Ebindas Yesudasan for Momo Yansane and Mohammed Sanan. Green subsequently forced Rehenesh into a save in the 81st minute, while Luna and Green continued to search for an opening.

The closing stages saw both teams push for a winner. Amrinder produced another important save in the 88th minute to deny Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung from distance. Kerala’s James Bolton then saw a long-range attempt blocked in stoppage time.

The hosts suffered a late setback when Luna was forced off with an injury in the 90th minute, with Vibin Mohanan replacing him. Despite the late pressure, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the referee brought the contest to an end at 0-0.
