Kolkata, March 20: As the U20 Women’s Asian Cup is knocking on the door with only 10 days left, the Young Tigresses have reached their destination with head coach Joakim Alexandersson and a 24-member squad. After various training sessions and practice, the Indian U20 women’s team is ready to reawaken Indian football at the international level, with hope at their feet.
The Young Tigresses, reached Thailand on Friday morning, March 20, 2026.The 24-member squad will now spend 13 days in Bangkok to adjust to the conditions before their first Group C match against Japan on April 2. Under Swedish head coach Joakim Alexandersson, the team started their preparations in Bengaluru in January after the IWL season. They later travelled to Sweden for a one-month training camp, where they played five friendly matches against senior club teams. After returning, the team continued training in Kolkata before leaving for Bangkok early on Friday, ready to take on the big challenge ahead.
Under the watchful eye of head coach Alexandersson, assistant coach Paromita Sit, and goalkeeping coach Hameed KK, the head coach has named 24 Young Tigresses to defend the opportunity they have earned after 20 years to compete in the U20 Women’s Asian Cup.
