Jamshedpur FC bolster their squad with Provat Lakra, Raynier Fernandes and Leewan Castanha, while Sarthak Golui signs a contract extension ahead of the Durand Cup 2026.
Kolkata, July 23: Jamshedpur FC have strengthened their squad ahead of the 135th Durand Cup and the new season by completing four additions, including a contract extension for defender Sarthak Golui. The Red Miners confirmed the arrivals of defender Provat Lakra, midfielder Raynier Fernandes and defender Leewan Castanha.
Defender Sarthak Golui has signed a contract extension after joining the club in the previous season. The 28-year-old, capable of playing at centre-back as well as both full-back positions, remains an important part of Jamshedpur FC’s defensive setup.
One of the key additions is Provat Lakra, who returns to the Red Miners from East Bengal FC. The 28-year-old defender made 13 appearances and scored once for East Bengal during the previous season. Having represented Jamshedpur FC earlier in his career, Lakra now returns to strengthen the backline ahead of the new season.
The club have also signed the known name of Indian football Raynier Fernandes from FC Goa. The 30-year-old midfielder featured in 11 matches last season, making four starts. An experienced player in Indian football, Raynier is expected to add quality and composure to Jamshedpur’s midfield.
Completing the list of new arrivals is Leewan Castanha, the 23-year-old defender from Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s reserve team. Comfortable as both a centre-back and right-back, the young defender joins the Red Miners looking to make an impact in the upcoming season.
Jamshedpur FC will begin their 135th Durand Cup campaign against Defenders FC of Sri Lanka on July 26 at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Ranchi. The Red Miners will then face Sporting Club Delhi on August 4 before taking on the Indian Air Force Football Team on August 13, with all their Group C matches scheduled to be played in Ranchi.
With the addition of Provat Lakra, Raynier Fernandes, Leewan Castanha and the contract extension of Sarthak Golui, Jamshedpur FC have added experience, versatility and depth to their squad. The Red Miners will now look to make a strong start to the 135th Durand Cup before shifting their focus to the upcoming Indian Super League season.
