Can Mohun Bagan SG End Their Painful 8-Year CFL Title Drought? Powerful 2026 Campaign Begins

Kolkata, June 3: Mohun Bagan Super Giant kicked off their first training session of the season. Under head coach Bastab Roy, Mohun Bagan SG started training for their 2026 Calcutta Football League campaign. With 19 players Mohun Bagan SG began their first training. With several retained players from the previous season, from the senior team, new signings, and promoted U16 junior players, Mohun Bagan SG has assembled a balanced squad for this year’s campaign.

In the first training session, there were Aditya Adhikari, Tongsin, Roshan, Aditya Mondal, Sahajid Gazi, Subol Tudu, Rajdeep Paul, Gogocha, Nandan (GK), Diprobhat Ghosh (GK), Rajdeep Mallick, Dippendu Biswas, Tanmoy Ghosh, Raj Basfore, Mingma Sherpa, Sahil Imandar, and more. Head coach Bastob Roy and former Mohammedan coach Nilanjan Guha, the assistant of Bastob Roy for this campaign, were present. Sayan Banerjee, the new signing from East Bengal FC, was not there, and the rest of the players could join within one week.

Bastab Roy mentioned that the focus is only on the CFL for now, as the competition’s structure is still not decided and how it will be held remains unclear. The team is currently focusing only on practice. There are a few players from the senior team, including Suhail Bhat, Kiyan Nassiri, Abhishek Suryavanshi, Dippendu Biswas, and names like Asish Rai, who suffered from injury last season, while Abhisek Tekcham will join the squad soon.

On that, Bastob Roy said that it will give them time to prove themselves again and secure a permanent place in the senior team. He also mentioned that this will not leave them demotivated, as getting game time is important to prove themselves.

Goalkeepers: Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari, Priyansh Dubey, Deepprobhat Ghosh, Nandan Roy.

Outfield Players: Raj Basfore, Sahajid Gazi, Roshan Singh Thangjam, Subal Tudu, Sahil Inamder, Dippendu Biswas, Umer Muthar KP, Aditiya Mondal, Sandeep Malik, Abhishek Suryawanshi, Mingma Sherpa, Pallujam Rohan Singh, Aditiya Adhikari, Gogocha Chungkham, Sayan Banerjee, Bivan Jyoti Laska, Kiyan Nassiri Giri, Thumsol Tongsin, Rohit Singh Yendrembam, Suhail Ahmad Bhat, Karan Rai, Rajdeep Paul, Tanmoy Ghosh, Asish Rai, Md. Sarfaraz.

With preparations now underway, Mohun Bagan SG will aim to end their eight-year wait for the Calcutta Football League title, having last won the competition in the 2018 season.
