Kolkata, December 30: East Bengal Women delivered a statement performance on Tuesday afternoon at the Kalyani Stadium, producing a breathtaking display of attacking football to dismantle SESA FA 9–0 in the Indian Women’s League. The emphatic win also marked a memorable milestone for head coach Anthony Andrews, who was overseeing his 50th match in the IWL as a head coach.
From the opening whistle, the Moshal Girls asserted complete control and never allowed SESA FA a moment to settle.
The early warning signs came as early as the 3rd minute, when Fazila broke into the box from the left and unleashed a grounder that hitted the bottom post before going out. East Bengal didn’t have to wait long for the breakthrough, though. In the 6th minute, Soumya opened the scoring.

Just a minute later, Fazila was again inches away, striking the post for the second time in a goal-bound move. Persistence paid off in the 10th minute, as Fazila finally found the net to double East Bengal’s lead, putting the Moshal Girls at 2–0.

The goals kept flowing. In the 17th minute, Soumya delivered a low cross from the right. The SESA FA goalkeeper failed to gather, and Sulanjana reacted quickest to slot the ball into the net, making it 3–0. Five minutes later, Fazila rose high to meet Sarita’s cross from the right, powering a header into the net to complete her brace and push the scoreline to 4–0 within just 22 minutes.

East Bengal’s dominance was relentless. In the 25th minute, Fazila completed her hat-trick in style, beating the advancing goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation and calmly placing the ball into the net to make it 5–0.
Before the break, the Moshal Girls added another. In the 40th minute, Resty showcased her pace and composure, finishing clinically to hand East Bengal a 6–0 lead at halftime, capping off a devastating first-half performance.

The second half saw no let-up. In the 54th minute, Soumya struck again to register her brace and score East Bengal’s seventh goal of the afternoon. While the cold tightened its grip on Bengal, the Moshal Girls continued to turn up the heat in front of goal. In the 72nd minute, Fazila netted her fourth goal of the match, extending the lead to 8–0.
The final flourish arrived in the 86th minute, when Soumya completed her hat-trick, sealing a stunning 9–0 victory for East Bengal Women.
It was a near-perfect afternoon for the Moshal Girls, clinical in attack, composed in possession. The emphatic win not only highlighted East Bengal Women’s title credentials but also served as a fitting celebration of Anthony Andrews’ 50th IWL match as head coach, underlining the team’s attacking identity and growing confidence in the league.
