Kolkata, January 2: East Bengal Women delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Nita FA 5–0 on Friday afternoon at the Kalyani Stadium, continuing their strong push in the ongoing Indian Women’s League as the defending champions stamped their authority once again, in the new year, but in their old style.
The Moshal Girls wasted no time in asserting control. In the 6th minute, Sulanjana broke the deadlock with a stunning long-range strike. After Resty smartly set the ball for her, Sulanjana unleashed a powerful shot from distance giving East Bengal an early lead.

East Bengal Women maintained steady pressure throughout the first half and were rewarded just before the break. In the 42nd minute, Fazila picked out Soumya with a well-timed pass, and Soumya calmly placed the ball into the net to double the advantage before the break.

Picking up exactly where they left off, East Bengal Women struck again early in the second half. In the 50th minute, a corner caused chaos inside the Nita FA box, and Resty reacted quickest to capitalise, firing an on-target effort to make it 3–0.

The dominance continued, and in the 63rd minute, a slick combination between Resty and Fazila open the defence once more. Fazila finished the move clinically, netting the fourth goal and further underlining East Bengal’s control of the match.

The final blow came late in the game through a substitute’s impact. In the 89th minute, Naorem Priyanka Devi added the fifth from another corner situation. A high delivery saw East Bengal players rise to challenge, and although Nita FA goalkeeper Adrija Sharkel attempted to gather the ball, she failed to hold on. The loose ball fell kindly to Naorem Priyanka Devi, who made no mistake in sending it into the net.

With this commanding 5–0 victory, East Bengal Women once again lit up their Moshal spirit at Kalyani. The flame has burned bright in every match this season, and just four games into the league, the defending champions boast a perfect record with 12 points, 16 goals scored and only one conceded, sending out a powerful message in their quest to retain the Indian Women’s League title.
