East Bengal FC Set for Explosive ISL 2025–26 Battle vs FC Goa

Kolkata, March 4: East Bengal FC entered their fourth clash of the Indian Super League 2025–26 against FC Goa at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan tomorrow from 5:00 PM. After winning two games with competitive performances, East Bengal lost their last fixture against Jamshedpur FC, which has hampered their league campaign, as the season is short and every point is crucial.

There were injury concerns in the squad, and Cibille is yet to return to full match fitness. However, it is good news that their key midfielder, Saul Crespo, joined the pre-match training session this morning, putting all injury rumours to the side, and is available for tomorrow. Mohammad Rakip and Naorem Mahesh are also available for tomorrow.

FC Goa are sitting in third place with two wins and one draw. They have scored a total of four goals so far, three of which have come from their only foreign striker, Dejan Drazic, who showcased an impactful performance. There is respect in the way East Bengal head coach speaks about Dejan Drazic. Having followed him since his days at RC Celta de Vigo, the same club where Oscar studied, played, and began his coaching journey, the understanding runs deep. Yet, familiarity does not reduce the threat. Even when a player is well known, football always leaves space for surprise.

Drazic remains the main attacking difference-maker for FC Goa, a player capable of changing the colour of a match in a single action. As Oscar reflected, there is a clear plan to keep a close eye on him and limit his influence. The main aim tomorrow, as Oscar feels, is simply to stop him from making that impact.

Oscar presented a composed and structured approach ahead of the upcoming fixture. He acknowledged that the team still has significant room for improvement, particularly once injured players return and the squad reaches full strength. The primary objective, he stated, is to secure a finish in the top half of the table, with a top-five position considered a strong achievement. He dismissed the idea of the match being a “do or die” encounter. According to him, success will be a natural outcome of consistent and strong performances.

Reflecting on the progress of East Bengal FC, he noted that after several challenging seasons, the team now appears more competitive, balanced, and determined. The focus remains on steady improvement, maintaining belief in their methods, and continuing to grow with each passing week.

FC Goa have won the last five head-to-head matches against East Bengal FC, giving them a clear edge in recent meetings. However, tomorrow’s contest presents a new challenge. With both teams aiming for crucial points, as another competitive battle awaits.
