Kolkata, March 12: Mohun Bagan Super Giant are prepared to play their next fixture of the ongoing Indian Super League campaign, and their first away game of the season against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday evening. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM.
After winning two back-to-back matches with a big 5–1 margin, the title defenders are on top of the table after winning all their matches. Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC are sixth with seven points, having won their previous match in Kolkata against Mohammedan SC in a tough 2–1 clash.
In the last session before matchday minus two, centre-back Mehtab Singh was on the sidelines. However, in today’s session he returned to training with the team. Meanwhile, Robson Robinho is still on the sidelines after getting injured in the Kolkata Derby against Mohammedan SC, and he is not expected to travel with the team tomorrow afternoon.
Despite the presence of Indian star Sunil Chhetri in the opposition, Mohun Bagan’s main focus remains on their own performance and executing their game plan in the match. Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match, Mohun Bagan Super Giant are preparing for a tough away challenge against Bengaluru FC. The contest is expected to be a difficult test for the visitors, as playing in Bengaluru has always been challenging in their fort.
Head coach Sergio Lobera said that such matches are important for the team, describing the fixture as a good test against a strong side in a difficult place to win. He also admitted that playing at home is usually more comfortable with the support of fans, but added that teams aiming to win trophies must be ready to perform and try to get results even in the toughest away environments.
During the training session, former goalkeeping coach Martinez Nion said goodbye to the entire squad after receiving a call from his former colleague, Mohun Bagan’s former head coach Jose Molina, who is currently with the Honduras national team and invited Nion to join him. With Nion leaving, the team’s goalkeepers are now being trained by Abhro Mondal, who has taken over as the new goalkeeping coach.
In the last five head-to-head matches, Mohun Bagan Super Giant have shown clear dominance over Bengaluru FC, winning four games and drawing one. With that record in their favour, the Mariners will look to continue their strong run when the two sides meet again on Saturday in the Indian Super League.

Sergio Lobera Sees Bengaluru FC Away Clash as a Strong Test for the Mariners!
“BFC now is a new team, we cannot compare with last season. But that doesn’t mean it is better or worse. Finally we need to put the focus on ourselves, we need to know it is a good test for us. There are no excuses, it’s a good challenge for us, it’s a new experience for me also, to play as a coach away at home. But I am happy, I am happy about the challenge and I am confident with the work the team is doing to try to get a good result. The next one is a big challenge for us. I think it will be a good test for us to play against a very good team in a difficult place to win”.
