The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently closed its application window for the vacant position of Senior National Men’s Team head coach, and the response has been exceptional.
By the end of the application period on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the AIFF had received 291 applications from around the globe. Among these applicants, 100 possess UEFA Pro License diplomas, 20 hold AFC Pro License diplomas, and three have CONMEBOL licenses.
The AIFF is now in the process of reviewing and shortlisting candidates for this prestigious role.
AIFF President, Mr. Kalyan Chaubey, expressed his delight at the high level of interest shown by several prominent figures in football. “We have received an overwhelming response with some marquee names having expressed their interest in India,” he said.
As the All India Football Federation embarks on a new chapter in Indian football, Mr. Chaubey emphasized the importance of selecting a coach dedicated to the development of Indian football, someone who understands the country’s culture and can help shape the national football philosophy.
The goal is to have the new head coach in place by the end of July, enabling the Indian team to make the most of the FIFA window in September. The next step involves a committee led by AIFF Vice President Mr. NA Haris, along with chairpersons from various other committees, reviewing the applications and presenting a shortlist to the Executive Committee for the final decision, according to Mr. Chaubey.
