Mohammedan Sporting Club launch their CFL Super Six campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Bhawanipore FC.
Kolkata, September 11, 2026: After completing the group phase successfully, Mohammedan began their CFL 2026 Super Six phase with a win. On Friday, Mohammedan took the field to face Group A’s second-best Bhawanipore FC at Naihati Stadium. Recently, Mohammedan FC has faced a difficult time on and off the field; a few days ago, a previously imposed FIFA ban stopped players from registering, and management issues affected the team; their head coach, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, also resigned. Though back-to-back backlash won’t stop the white and black brigade from moving, they produced a clinical performance and secured crucial three points, scoring 2-0 against Bhawanipore FC.
Mohammedan breaks through in the first half
The club took charge of the ball from the very beginning of the match, with their continuous attacking gameplay. The side maintained composure throughout the first half, remained organised, and secured the breakthrough with Fardin’s goal.
White and blacks hold their nerve in the second half
After having a successful outing in the first half, Black and White Brigade continued their fierce run and successfully defended their advantage in the second half. Israfil doubled the advantage, putting the team in a comfortable position and controlled the ninety minutes with full composure.
The result gives Mohammedan Sporting Club an ideal start to their Super Six campaign, as they aim to carry this momentum into the upcoming matches. To stay firm in the championship title, they will have to show the same kind of resilience against East Bengal; the Calcutta derby is going to be played at Barasat Stadium on 14th September, where the red and yellow juniors stopped Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
