Odisha FC bring back Nandha Kumar Sekar ahead of the new ISL season

Nandha Kumar Sekar returns to Odisha FC after a prolific East Bengal spell, bolstering their attack ahead of the ISL.

Kolkata, September 10, 2026: Nandha Kumar Sekar, who enjoyed a prolific time at East Bengal for three consecutive ISL seasons, returned to Odisha FC for another stint. The Chennai-born attacking winger has remained one of the finest for East Bengal FC in the last season. Odisha FC on Wednesday announced the homecoming. Nandakumar’s return to Odisha is not entirely new. He previously played for the club for four consecutive seasons. During that time, Nandakumar became one of the most important footballers in Odisha’s attack. He has played for the club in the ISL in 59 matches, scoring seven goals and providing five assists.

Who is Nandha Kumar Sekar?

The winger gained attention after his professional debut in the I-League for Chennai City in 2017. He scored his first goal in the tournament against East Bengal, securing a 2-1 victory. After that, he moved to Odisha FC on loan in the 2017-18 season, where he enjoyed his best times; later, he joined for East Bengal on a three-year contract.

The 2022–23 season proved to be his most productive campaign, as Nandha played a pivotal role in Odisha FC’s first-ever ISL playoff qualification and maiden Super Cup triumph. He netted six goals and provided an assist in the ISL before adding four more goals to Odisha FC’s victorious Super Cup campaign.

After a successful Domestic season, he also gained a national team call-up in May 2023 for the Hero Intercontinental Cup and SAFF Championship.

The club has given me some very special memories’, Nandha said

Speaking on his return to Odisha FC, Nandha said,

“I’m very happy to be back with Odisha FC. This club has given me some very special memories, and I’m looking forward to being back with the team and the fans. I’m ready to work hard and contribute to the team for the rest of the season.”

The experienced winger will bring experience for Kalinga Warriors. The Indian Super League is going to start on 10th October.
