Reebok Returns to Indian Football with NorthEast United FC
Kolkata, September 5, 2026: Reebok has returned to competitive football sponsorship in India, joining hands with NorthEast United FC ahead of the 2026–27 season. The partnership was announced in Mumbai, on Saturday where the club unveiled its new season jersey in collaboration with the global sportswear brand.
The new jersey was unveiled by Aryaman Vikram Birla, Director of the Aditya Birla Group and Non-Executive Director of Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Limited, alongside John Abraham, Co-Owner of NorthEast United FC. The launch was attended by NorthEast United FC CEO Mandar Tamhane and members of the first-team squad.
The partnership marks a new phase for Reebok as the brand looks to strengthen its connection with sport in India. Reebok, which has a long association with Indian sport across football, cricket and running, sees football as an important platform to connect with a younger generation of sports fans.
Speaking at the launch, Aryaman Vikram Birla said the partnership with NorthEast United FC was a natural extension of Reebok’s vision, bringing together the brand’s sporting heritage and one of India’s most passionate football communities.
John Abraham also welcomed the partnership, highlighting Reebok’s sporting heritage and the opportunities the collaboration could create for NorthEast United FC and football in the region.
NorthEast United FC, the association comes at an important stage as the club continues to build its identity around the football culture of NorthEast India. The club represents all eight states of the region and has played an important role in bringing the area’s footballing talent and passion to the national stage.
Mandar Tamhane, CEO of NorthEast United FC, said the partnership reflected the direction in which the club was heading. He expressed the talent, passion and culture of the NorthEast and expressed his belief that the region can make a bigger impact on Indian football.
The new jersey also carries a special representation of the region, prominently featuring eight stars to celebrate the eight states of NorthEast India and their deep-rooted football culture.
The launch event was not limited to the jersey unveiling. NorthEast United FC players took part in a fast-paced 5-a-side exhibition match, giving fans and members of the media an early look at the new Reebok kit in action.
Players including Gurmeet Singh, Buanthanglun Samte, Redeem Tlang, Pramveer, Macarton Nickosn, Antonio Moyano, Ethyan Gonzalez, Abdul Rabeeh, Mark Zothanpuia and Lalrinzuala and the head coach of the Highlanders Pedro Benali were present at the event.
The partnership between Reebok and NorthEast United FC brings together a global sportswear name and a club deeply connected to one of India’s strongest footballing regions. As the new season approaches, both sides will look to build on that connection and further strengthen the relationship between sport, culture and the next generation of football fans in India.
