Can Mohun Bagan SG Dominate Again? CFL 2026 Squad Taking Shape

Kolkata, 1 June: Mohun Bagan Super Giant will start their training session for the new season from June 3 at the Mohun Bagan ground. As the Calcutta Football League 2026 approaches and the Durand Cup begins from July 15, Mohun Bagan SG are preparing for the new season with a balanced squad.

Senior team assistant coach Bastab Roy will serve as the head coach for the Calcutta Football League campaign, alongside Nilanjan Guha and goalkeeper coach Abhra Mondal. With several senior team reserve players, a few players from the youth squad, and retained footballers from last season’s CFL squad, Mohun Bagan SG are shaping their team carefully.

Additionally, this season, Sayan Banerjee, well known among the red-and-gold supporters, is set to become one of the centre attractions after joining Mohun Bagan SG. The club is aiming to maintain a balance between experienced players and youth development with a long-term vision for the senior team.

Rajdeep Pal, who impressed in the U16 youth league for Green & Maroon as a scorer, has joined the CFL squad. Along with him, Dipendu Biswas, Suhail Bhat, Abhishek Suryavanshi, Kiyan Nassiri, and Umer Muther from the senior setup will also be part of the squad. Raj Basfore, the former Mariners, has also returned to the team. Sixteen young players from last season’s Calcutta League squad will continue, including Priyansh Dubey, Diprabhat Ghosh, Tongsing, Mingma Sherpa, Karan Rai, Sahil Inamdar, Subal Tudu.

As mentioned earlier, Sayan Banerjee already grabbed attention during his time in the red-and-gold jersey with his footballing performances. His heated derby moment and tussle with senior Mohun Bagan SG player Dimitrios Petratos also attracted a lot of attention. Now, wearing the green-and-maroon jersey, it remains to be seen what he can deliver. Former Mohammedan SC player Tanmoy Ghosh has also signed for Mohun Bagan SG this season.

Alongside the CFL preparations, Mohun Bagan Super Giant have also confirmed their participation in the upcoming Durand Cup starting from July 15. With a balanced squad and focus on Indian talents, the Mariners will look to begin their new season strongly.
