The FIFA Women’s Series 2026 will mark a significant step forward in the development of international women’s football, as national teams from across different confederations come together in a unique invitational format. The inaugural campaign scheduled during the FIFA international window from April 9 to April 18, 2026, the tournament will feature three separate four-team series hosted across different countries.
There is four teams, Australia, Malawi and the host Kenya, among this invited nations, the India women’s national football team have secured a place in one of the four-team groups. This opportunity not only provides valuable exposure but also allows the team to test themselves against opponents from different footballing cultures.
The tournament has four teams and follows a simple format. First, two matches are played between the teams. The winners of these matches go to the final, while the teams that lose play for third place. In this way, every team plays two matches, one first match and one final or third-place match.
As per the fixtures, India are set to face Kenya women’s national football team on April 11. On the same day, Australia women’s national football team will take on Malawi women’s national football team. Based on the results, teams will then progress to either the final or the third-place match, both scheduled for April 15.
In the recent campaign of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Amelia Valverde joined the India women’s national football team as the head coach and will continue to lead the team in this campaign as well. As the championship ended in an unexpected way and the wounds are still raw for the Blue Tigresses.
This new concept of FIFA Women’s Series by FIFA aims to reduce the gap between confederations and to strengthen their standing in international women’s football, it is a chance to build experience, this opportunity can bring a new start for the Blue Tigresses to stand tall once again.
