United SC Thrash Mohammedan SC 3-0 in CFL 2025; Sahil Scores Brace, Samanta Saves Penalty

Kolkata, July 9: In the ongoing Calcutta Football League, United SC secured a dominant 3-0 win over Mohammedan SC at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium on Wednesday. All three goals came in the second half, where the Purple Brigade displayed complete dominance. At the end of the match, United SC showed their gratitude and support to their former player Tarak Hembram, who suffered a serious injury during the match between Railway FC and Mohun Bagan SG. The club wished their very own a speedy recovery.

With the match underway, both sides showed attacking intent. In the very first minutes, Sahil Harizan missed a close-range chance from inside the six-yard box to open the scoring for United SC. In the 19th minute, Mohammedan launched a goal-bound move. From a through ball, unmarked Lalthankima was about to attempt a shot from inside the box, but Sourav Samanta came out and denied the threat with a crucial save.

In the 29th minute, United SC were reduced to ten men as Aditya Thapa made a rough challenge on Upen Tudu inside the box, conceding a red card and awarding Mohammedan a penalty. However, Sourav Samanta saved Lalthankima’s penalty shot to keep United SC’s net untouched. In the 40th minute, Mohammedan SC were reduced to ten men as Sahil Harizan was roughly fouled by captain Dinesh Meitei. Sahil took the resulting free-kick from just outside the box, but it deflected off the human wall.

United Sports capitalized in the second half. In the 61st minute, substitute Prasanta Das sent a through ball to an unmarked Sahil, who attempted a low shot but missed it wide. Just three minutes later, United SC Sports took the lead. From a pass by Prasanta Das, substitute Dipesh Murmu scored the opener, finding the net while being completely unmarked.

Just before the final quarter of the match, Sahil doubled the lead for United SC. From substitute Lalremruata’s inch-perfect cross into the box, Sahil placed the ball into the net with a one-touch finish. In the 77th minute, Sahil pulled off a brilliant goal to complete his brace and secure United Sports’ third. From a long clearance by Mohammedan SC keeper Subhajit Bhattacharya, the ball came back to a United Sports player, who passed it to Dipesh Murmu on the right flank. Murmu then played the ball to Sahil, who controlled it with a chest trap, received it on his right foot, shifted it to his left, and unleashed a long-range shot to score the third goal.

With a commanding second-half performance and a solid team effort, United SC outclassed Mohammedan SC 3-0, marking one of their most dominant displays in the ongoing Calcutta Football League. A standout performance and brace from Sahil and a goal from Dipesh Murmu sealed the win, while goalkeeper Sourav Samanta’s crucial penalty save kept their clean sheet intact.

In others fixture of the Calcutta Football League today, Sribhumi FC secured a dominant 5-1 win over Wari AC. ASOS Rainbow and Peerless SC played out a goalless 0-0 draw.
