Mohammedan SC vs Punjab FC: Black Panthers Eye First Home Win in ISL 2024-25 Season Finale

Kolkata, March 9: Mohammedan SC will host Punjab FC in their final fixture of the Indian Super League 2024-25 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan from 7:30 PM, aiming to secure their first home win in front of their 12th man.

In their 11 home games, Mohammedan SC failed to secure a single win. In the reverse fixture, Punjab FC won the match, and their head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis stated that they are aiming to end the season on a high note. Punjab currently sit 10th in the points table with 28 points from 23 matches, and a win would see them finish the season in 9th place.

Mohammedan’s maiden ISL season has not been smooth. However, the interim head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo stated that he does not intend to intentionally change the usual squad rotation for the last game. He mentioned that those who perform better will make it to the starting eleven.

Mohammedan SC are yet to win at home this season, failing to score in six of their 11 matches and conceding multiple goals in their last four games. Punjab FC have won 500 duels so far in 2025, joining Jamshedpur FC (551) in this feat. However, with the lowest duel success rate of 45%, they need to be more effective in challenges.

COACHES VIEW:

One last game, one chance to give back to the fans — aiming Mohammedan SC interim coach Mehrajuddin!

Tomorrow is the last game, and I want all of us to be in better shape. We want to push for a win tomorrow. This season has not been good for us, it’s been really struggling and frustrating , for us, for the fans, for everyone associated with the club. At last, we want to give something to the fans. We will give our best to win tomorrow. This is a season we need to forget about, as we can say we will come back stronger,” said Mehrajuddin Wadoo.

Panagiotis aims to end the season with a win, hoping to finish on a high note and stick to the tactics used in previous matches!
