Kolkata, February 20: Mohammedan SC will play their first home game of the ISL 2025–26 season against FC Goa tomorrow. The match will kick off at 7:30 PM. Playing at home, Mohammedan SC will look to put in a strong performance in front of their supporters.
After a 1–0 defeat to Jamshedpur FC in their opening match, Mohammedan SC return home determined to respond when they face FC Goa. Mohammedan showed defensive discipline to stay competitive until the final whistle, in their previous match, still searching for their opening goal of the season with an all-Indian squad, the focus now shifts to improving execution in the final third.
FC Goa, meanwhile, began their campaign with a draw and arrive as a side accustomed to the the demands of national and international competitions. With home support behind them, Mohammedan SC will look to combine their compact defending with sharper attacking play in what promises to be an important early-season test.
Speaking about the attacking third, Mehrajuddin admitted that improvement is needed. In the last match, the team did not create many chances and failed to score. He also mentioned that some players were playing their first ISL game and were a bit nervous, especially in an away match. However, with more games, he believes the team will grow in confidence and start creating better opportunities in attack.
Ahead of the home match Mohammedan SC coach said they have worked on their attacking play and are hopeful of doing better in front of goal. At the same time, he stressed the importance of strong defending, saying the team must protect their goal while also taking their chances when they come.
There is one injury concern in the squad ahead of the match, but there are no suspension issues. The rest of the players are available for selection. The team will now focus on preparing well and making the right decisions for the starting lineup
