Indian international Lallianzuala Chhangte joins Mohun Bagan Super Giant on a three-year contract, calling the move the fulfilment of his childhood dream while strengthening the club’s title ambitions for the new season.

Kolkata, August 1: Mohun Bagan Super Giant have made one of the biggest moves of the transfer window by securing the signature of Indian international Lallianzuala Chhangte on a three-year contract after a long times rumour the confirmation came out. The 29-year-old winger arrives after an impressive spell with Mumbai City FC, where he established himself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the country.

Known for his fast pace, sharp dribbling and ability to deliver in crucial moments, Chhangte brings quality and experience to the Green and Maroon attack. During his four seasons with Mumbai City FC, he scored 42 goals and registered 15 assists across all competitions, including 30 goals in 91 ISL appearances, while playing a key role in the club’s League Shield-winning campaign.

On the international stage, the Mizoram-born footballer has represented India in 55 matches, scoring nine goals. His versatility across the frontline and ability to create as well as finish chances make him a valuable addition to Mohun Bagan’s squad ahead of the new season.

“A dream fulfilled in Green and Maroon” for Chhangte, joining Mohun Bagan is the fulfilment of a childhood dream. He believes every Indian footballer aspires to wear the Green and Maroon jersey, and despite receiving offers from other clubs, he chose Mohun Bagan for its unmatched legacy, success and passionate fanbase. He is ready to fight for his place in a highly competitive squad, seeing competition as a way to improve himself and contribute to the team’s success. The Indian winger also expressed his excitement about experiencing his first Kolkata Derby, calling it one of the biggest matches in Asian football, and promised to give everything for the club and its supporters in the pursuit of every possible trophy.

For Chhangte, the move also marks the beginning of a new chapter. Despite years of success in Indian football, this will be his first stint with a Kolkata club and his first opportunity to experience the city’s football culture as a home player. With Mohun Bagan aiming to challenge for every major trophy this season, the arrival of one of India’s finest attackers further strengthens an already formidable squad.

After singing Chhangte said to the club media

“Every footballer in India dreams of wearing the green-and-maroon jersey. Since childhood, I always believed that if I ever got the opportunity to play in Kolkata, it would be for Mohun Bagan. Today, that dream has become a reality. Although I received offers from other clubs as well, I chose Mohun Bagan because, in terms of legacy and success, it is the biggest club in the country. Its reputation extends beyond India and the club is respected across Asia. Whatever respect and success I have earned throughout my football career, I always felt that my journey would remain incomplete if I did not play for Mohun Bagan in Kolkata. That is why I accepted the offer as soon as it came. I have faced Mohun Bagan Super Giant many times as an opponent and whenever I stepped onto the pitch at Yuba Bharati, I witnessed the incredible passion and unwavering support of the green-and-maroon supporters. I have not experienced that level of love and connection at any other club in India.”
