An exciting CFL match. On 27’th June, Steve Herbot’s United Sports Club and Kibu Vicuna’s Diamond Harbour FC played their first CFL 2024 match in Thursday afternoon at Bidhannagar MSC ground. DHFC got their Calcutta Football League 2024 season’s first win, with 1-2 lead over United Sports club.
In the first half DHFC started the match with dominance within eight minutes DHFC earned a set piece, however they failed to place the ball in the net. At 10’th minute DHFC won first corner of the match. DHFC’s Ayon Mondal took a shot from the corner of the eighteen yards box at 14’th minute but failed to scored, it was their first on target shot. At 28’th Minute Jobby Justin opened up the score line with his grounder shot which was deflected by the United Sports player, from Tuhin Sikdar’s cross Jobby scored DHFC’s first goal of the season. Dipesh Murmu with his smooth outside cut, from second post’s far corner scored the equalizer goal for United Sports Club at 39’th minute of the match. The first half ended up with dominating 40-60 ball possession for DHFC and 1-1 score line.
In the second half United Sports Club started their game with much confidence. At 52′ minute Jobby Justin missed a back volley from inside of the box. At 57′ minute DHFC earned a free kick, from the right wing Tuhin Sikdar took the free kick but Jobby Justin missed a possible goal chance from inside the box for his team. United Sports Club’s captain Tarak took a shot from the outside of the left corner of the box at 62′ mintute but the ball was deflected by the post, with the deflected ball United’s player took a shot but, still with back to back two shot they failed to change the score line.
At 70’th minute before the last quarter of the match Jobby Justin scored his brace and bring the 1-2 lead for Kibu’s DHFC, Substitute Naro Hari Shrestha assisted the second goal for DHFC. United’s substitute player Dipankar Tudu got their possible equalizer goal scoring chance at 77’th minute from the left corner of the box but it was saved by DHFC’s goalkeeper. In the added time Substitute player Sheen took a long ranger left footed shot but failed to make it three for DHFC, they got their first win of the CFL 2024 season against United SC with 1-2 score line today.
United Sports Club and Diamond Harbour FC played their first match of Calcutta Football League 2024 today, Steve Herbots’s United Sport Club full of youngsters played hard throughout the match, and the other team with experienced ballers fight back using their experience throughout the match.
Next fixtures, DHFC will play their next match against BSS sports on 4th July, and United SC ‘s next match against Aryan Club on 1st July.
