Bengaluru FC welcome Sporting Club Delhi at the Fortress, aiming for a winning start to the 2026-27 ISL campaign.
The 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season begins on Saturday, October 10, with Bengaluru FC hosting Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The Blues will look to make a winning start in front of their home supporters, while Sporting Club Delhi aim to begin their campaign with a positive result. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM IST, with Bengaluru hosting the opening fixture of an ISL season for the first time.
Bengaluru FC Look to Start Strong at Home
Bengaluru FC finished fourth last season, collecting 23 points from 13 matches, with six wins, five draws and two defeats. They ended the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC and will hope to carry that momentum into the new season. The fixture also marks Pep Muñoz’s first full campaign as head coach after guiding the Blues to fourth place last season.
Bengaluru have strengthened their squad with Spanish forward Borja Martínez, Portuguese defender Sandro Embaló, Argentine midfielder Manuel de Iriondo, Dutch centre-back Menno Koch and Montenegrin forward Mihailo Perović. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s continued presence adds experience to the squad.
Muñoz acknowledged the challenge posed by Sporting Club Delhi, highlighting their competitive rhythm and the quality of their Indian and foreign players. However, he expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and stressed the importance of patience and game management. With tickets available from ₹99, Bengaluru will hope to make home advantage count.
Sporting Club Delhi Aim to Upset the Hosts
Sporting Club Delhi enter the new campaign with a blend of experienced Indian players, emerging talent and international recruits. Head coach Tomasz Tchórz believes Bengaluru will provide a difficult test but insists his team will travel with the ambition of securing a positive result.
“Bengaluru are a well-organised and well-structured club, which makes them a good benchmark for us. It will be a difficult game, but nobody is unbeatable in the MG ISL. We will approach the match with the mentality to compete, attack and fight for the result,” Tchórz said.
Midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte also expressed confidence in the squad, emphasising the team’s hunger and determination to compete for silverware this season.
With Bengaluru aiming to start their campaign on a winning note and Sporting Club Delhi looking to make an early statement, the season opener promises an intriguing contest. The match takes place on October 10 at 5:00 PM IST at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, with live coverage announced on Sony Sports, SonyLIV and YouTube.
