Kolkata, August 31: The Indian men’s football team is set for another busy international schedule as the Blue Tigers prepare for the upcoming FIFA international windows. The squad for the September-October window has been announced, with head coach Khalid Jamil naming a 23-member squad for the training camp in Bengaluru.
The Blue Tigers’ camp will begin on September 14 in Bengaluru, as the team prepares for a series of international fixtures against strong opponents.
India are scheduled to face Panama on September 26, followed by a high-profile clash against Brazil on October 3. Three days later, on October 6, India will take on Uruguay, giving the team an opportunity to test themselves against some of the biggest names in international football.
The national team will also face New Zealand twice in November, with the two fixtures scheduled for November 12 and November 15.
Khalid Jamil names 23-member squad:
Head coach has selected a balanced squad comprising four goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders and five forwards.
Goalkeepers: Albino Gomes, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, Som Kumar.
Defenders: Abhishek Singh Tekcham, Akash Mishra, Anwar Ali, Bijoy Varghese, Hmingthanmawia Ralte, Jay Gupta, Pramveer, Ricky Meetei Haobam.
Midfielders: Anirudh Thapa, Ashique Kuruniyan, Farukh Choudhary, Lalengmawia Ralte, Macarton Nickson, Mohammed Sanan, Ricky Shabong, Sahal Abdul Samad.
Forwards: Edmund Lalrindika, Irfan Yadwad, Manvir Singh, Rahim Ali, Ryan Williams and Vikram Partap Singh.
The squad brings together a mix of experienced campaigners and younger players, with Jamil looking to build a team capable of competing against quality opposition.
