Emami Group ends its four-year investor and management role at East Bengal, transferring its shares and voting rights to the club while continuing its association as a sponsor.

Kolkata, August 25: Four years after becoming part of East Bengal’s footballing journey, Emami Group has officially stepped away from its role as an investor in the club. However, the association is not coming to an end, with the group confirming that it will continue its relationship with East Bengal as a sponsor.

Emami joined hands with East Bengal in 2022, taking up the role of an investor and becoming an important part of the club’s new chapter in Indian football. The partnership came at a crucial period for the century-old Kolkata giant, as Red & Gold looked to rebuild itself and return to the top level of Indian football.

On August 25, 2026, Emami announced that it had concluded its role in the management of East Bengal Football Club as an investor and till now achieved all over 8 trophies. As part of the transition, the group has transferred all its shares and associated voting rights to East Bengal Club, bringing an end to its investment and management role.

But the departure is not a complete goodbye. Emami has made it clear that it will continue its association with Red & Gold as a sponsor, remaining committed to supporting the club and its sporting ambitions.

The four-year partnership witnessed one of the most successful periods in Red & Gold’s recent history. Under the Emami association, the men’s team won the club’s first-ever ISL Championship in 2026, alongside the Kalinga Super Cup and consecutive Calcutta Football League titles in 2024 and 2025.

The women’s team also enjoyed a remarkable rise during the same period. East Bengal won the Kanyashree Cup in 2023, secured the inaugural SAFF Women’s Club Championship in 2025 and went on to win back-to-back Indian Women’s League titles in the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons.

For East Bengal, Emami’s exit from the investor role marks the end of one chapter that began in 2022. But with the group continuing as a sponsor, the relationship between the two institutions will continue, just in a different capacity.

What changes now?

Emami joined East Bengal in 2022 as an investor.
For the last four years, Emami had a role in the management of the football club.
Now, Emami has ended its investor role.
Emami has transferred all its shares in the football club to East Bengal Club.
Along with the shares, Emami has also transferred its voting rights.
This means Emami will no longer have shareholder rights or a management role in the football club.
East Bengal Club will now have control over the shares and voting rights that were held by Emami.
However, Emami is not completely leaving East Bengal.
Emami will continue as a sponsor, supporting the club financially/commercially and remaining associated with its sporting activities.

What does NOT change?

The shares and voting rights, role may have changed hands, but Emami’s association with East Bengal remains as Emami has not said it is ending its sponsorship, will continue it.
