East Bengal FC Women Win Historic IWL 2024-25 Title, Set to Represent India in AFC Women’s Championship

East Bengal FC Women’s team has made history by winning the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2025, becoming the first Indian club whose men’s and women’s teams have both won the national league.

The Moshal Girls had a commendable IWL 2025 campaign, with only one loss and one draw across 14 matches. They also displayed remarkable discipline and sportsmanship, conceding only six yellow cards throughout the tournament.

Having entered the IWL Premier Division in 2023, East Bengal Women wrote their name in the history books in just their third season by becoming the champions of India. With this stunning season, they now move forward to represent India in Asia through the AFC competition.

In the IWL 2025, only Gokulam Kerala managed to beat East Bengal FC 3-2. Facing Gokulam in their final match, East Bengal ended their campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory on home ground on April 18.

No more goals were scored in the second half. However, from the kickoff, East Bengal FC displayed strong, one-sided attacking football until the final whistle, while Gokulam Kerala kept trying to find their rhythm. Gokulam made history by fielding an all-Indian lineup in today’s match, a first in the history of the IWL.

Before the final match, East Bengal FC had already secured the IWL 2025 title. From the start, they displayed a dominant game, maintained their position at the top, and gifted their fans the championship in a historic way. Head coach Anthony Andrews, who was previously with Gokulam and led them to two titles, joined East Bengal this season. In his debut season with the club, he brought the championship to the East Bengal FC tent and made history by becoming the most successful coach in the Indian Women’s League with a total of three titles.

Now, Asia is calling East Bengal FC. By becoming the champions of India, the Moshal Girls will represent the country in the AFC Women’s Championship.
