Kolkata, March 4: East Bengal FC is all set to face their AFC Challenge League quarter-final rivals, Arkadag FK, and will host the first leg of the quarter final tomorrow at 7:00 PM at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
Arkadag FC is a Turkmenistan club founded on January 1, 2023. They have maintained an unbeaten record since their establishment, having not lost a single match in two years in the Yokary Liga, Turkmenistan’s top-tier league. The ongoing Indian Super League has not been favorable for East Bengal FC, as they narrowly missed out on the ISL playoffs.
However, head coach Oscar Bruzon stated that they are training hard and well to give their all in the match. Captain Saul Crespo said, “East Bengal FC is going to represent India, tomorrow. We will do our best and try to beat our opponents.”
The injury concerns for the Red and Gold Brigade have been resolved, as Nandha Kumar, who missed the previous two ISL matches, has recovered and will be available tomorrow. However, another major injury concern has arisen, as their backbone of their defense Anwar Ali may not be available for the clash.
Arkadag FK head coach Annayev stated that he is focusing only on tomorrow’s clash, not on the performance in previous matches. He added that they have done all the necessary preparations. After this match, the second leg of the quarter-final will be Arkadag’ FKs home game on March 12.
