Kolkata, July 17: The champions are making their intentions clear. Another snatch from the Shers, East Bengal FC signed Nigerian striker Effiong Nsungusi from Punjab FC for the upcoming season. Since the end of the previous campaign, the Red & Gold Brigade have started building their new squad by signing both Indian and foreign players. They had previously signed midfielder Dani Ramirez from Punjab FC as well.
The striker displayed an impressive and attention-grabbing campaign for Punjab FC last season, producing impactful performances that caught the eye of several clubs. He also delivered a strong performance against East Bengal FC and scored one goal each against Mohun Bagan SG and Mohammedan SC.
The 26-year-old striker started 12 matches for Punjab FC and contributed to nine goals, scoring seven and providing two assists while maintaining an impressive rating throughout the campaign. He now joins the champions of India as East Bengal FC continue to strengthen their squad for the new season.
