From the kick-off whistle, East Bengal started playing high-pressing football. Within one minute, Jeakson made a run down the right flank and entered the box. He passed the ball to PV Vishnu, who attempted a shot from close to the goal line, but keeper Gurmeet saved it.

In the 12th minute, the visitors created a promising goal-scoring opportunity, but East Bengal FC’s defense was highly alert. From the right flank, Jithin entered the box, prompting Prabhsukhan Gill to come off his line to stop him. However, Jithin passed the ball to Parthiv, who advanced toward the empty net. But Anwar Ali made an excellent interception and clearance.

In the 23rd minute, East Bengal FC took the lead. From the left outside corner of the box, Madih Talal delivered a long accurate cross to the far post. Diamantakos, without delay, precisely headed the ball into the net.

East Bengal started the second half in the same style as the first half. In the 68th minute, near the left edge outside the box, Bekey Oram committed a foul on PV Vishnu, resulting in a free kick from a dangerous position. Talal took the free kick but wasted the opportunity by delivering a grounder into the box, which was mispassed to the opponents.

In the 72nd minute, Northeast United FC was reduced to ten men as Bemammer received his second yellow card for a rough challenge on Vishnu. After that, the match heated up.

In the 87th minute, Chungnunga received his second yellow card, resulting in the second red card of the match, and both teams were equalized to a ten-man equation. However, in the 90+2nd minute, Alaaeddine Ajaraie’s shot from the edge of the box went over, failing to equalize the score.

East Bengal FC played dominantly throughout the match, securing a 53% possession. With this win, East Bengal FC secured their first victory of the ISL 2024 campaign in their eighth match. Meanwhile, Northeast United FC remained in third position in the group table, with 15 points from 10 matches.
