Kolkata, July 21: Starting their journey just three years ago, Diamond Harbour FC has made remarkable progress in Indian football. After winning the I-League 2 and securing promotion to the I-League 2025–26, the club is now set to participate in Asia’s oldest and most prestigious football tournament, the 134th edition of the Durand Cup.
Under the guidance of head coach Kibu Vicuaa, they will begin their campaign on July 28 with their first fixture against Kolkata giants Mohammedan SC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. In Group B, alongside Mohammedan SC, there are most successful club of Durand Cup Mohun Bagan SG and Border Security Force FT, along with Diamond Harbour FC.
A few days ago, Diamond Harbour FC announced and introduced their first foreign signing, Brazilian winger Clayton Da Silva. Now, they have completed their second foreign signing, Mikel Kortazar from Spain. The 26-year-old left-back previously played for SD Amorebieta, a Spanish club.

With several new signings including Wungngayam Muirang, Liansanga Renthlei, Ramdinthara, Paul Hmar, and Melroy Assisi, Wahengbam Angousana, Diamond Harbour FC is set to kick off their debut Durand Cup campaign with a balanced mix of experience and youth development in the squad.

On Monday evening, DHFC held a press conference with their experienced players Joby Justin, Narohari Shrestha, Girik Khosla, new signing Mikel Kortazar, and head coach Kibu Vicuna to address the media ahead of their Durand Cup campaign.
