Kolkata, March 14: In a tight contest, Mohun Bagan SG dropped their first points in the ongoing ISL after a 0–0 draw against Bengaluru FC in an away clash at the Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday evening. The match scenario and statistics showed that both teams stood firm as the contest ended goalless. Mohun Bagan SG remain at the top with 13 points, while Bengaluru FC stay fifth with 8 points.
As usual, the Blues displayed another thoughtful and innovative gesture on Saturday evening. Ahead of kick-off, the players walked onto the pitch with their wives, mothers, and daughters as a tribute to women, marking the spirit of International Women’s Day celebrated a few days ago.
After kick-off, the match looked evenly contested. Mohun Bagan SG dominate 69% ball possession, but both teams attacked with similar intensity. Despite a few good chances from both sides, the keepers did well to keep their clean sheets.
The first chance came in the 2nd minute when Ryan Williams took a left-footed shot from the left side of the box, but Mohun Bagan SG keeper Vishal Kaith saved it at the bottom left corner. Mohun Bagan responded in the 8th minute when Jamie Maclaren tried a left-footed shot from the left side of the box, but Bengaluru FC keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made a good save.
A minute later, Dimitri Petratos attempted a right-footed shot from outside the box, but it went just wide of the left post. Bengaluru FC created another chance in the 48th minute when Sirojiddin Kuziev shot from outside the box, but Kaith saved it comfortably in the centre of the goal.
Mohun Bagan came close again in the 61st minute when Alberto Rodriguez took a left-footed shot from the centre of the box, but Sandhu made another save after a pass from Petratos.
Both teams continued to apply pressure until the final whistle. Bengaluru FC attempted 14 shots with five on target, while Mohun Bagan SG had 15 attempts with four on target. However, neither side could find the net.
