Bengal Super League 2025: Full Schedule, Teams, Kickoff & Key Highlights

Kolkata, December 11: The wait is finally over — Bengal football is about to witness a historic new chapter. The Bengal Super League, conceptualized by the Indian Football Association (IFA) in collaboration with Shrachi Sports and Z Sports, kicks off on 14 December 2025, bringing a franchise-style professional league to the heartlands of the state. Adding to the Bengal Super League’s global stature, German legend, World Cup winner and Ballon d’Or recipient Lothar Matthaus has been announced as the official Brand Ambassador, giving the Bengal Super League an iconic international face and unmatched credibility.

This debut edition of Bengal Super League features 8 district-based teams, over 200 registered players, and a packed schedule of 61 matches, marking one of the most structured and ambitious football projects ever launched in Bengal. With Z Sports as the official broadcast partner, the league promises unmatched coverage and reach.

At its core, the Bengal Super League focuses on some major pillars —

  • Structured, high-intensity competition offering regular match exposure for rising talents.
  • A platform for rural youth, carving a pathway from grassroots to professional football.
  • Tech-driven performance rebuilding, integrating analytics, scouting, and skill-tracking.
  • Strong district identities, allowing every region to showcase pride on a professional stage.

In a groundbreaking move, the Bengal Super League also introduces the Additional Assistant Referee (AAR) system, the first of its kind in India. Positioned on the goal-line, the AAR will assist in tight, game-changing decisions, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and improved control in crucial moments. This marks a significant leap toward modern officiating standards.

The action begins on 14 December with the opening fixture: JHR Royal City FC vs Northbengal United FC at DSA Malda, kick-off at 4 PM.
