In a heartfelt social media post on Wednesday afternoon, January 29, Andrey Chernyshov, the head coach of Mohammedan SC, announced his resignation from the club, citing contract termination. The Russian tactician shared his deep emotions and frustrations regarding the circumstances that led to his departure.

Andrey Chernyshov revealed that his contract had been terminated due to the club’s inability to fulfill its financial commitments, stating that he had not received his salary for three months. “As a professional, I cannot work for three months without receiving a salary,” he wrote, highlighting the challenges he and his staff faced during his tenure.

In his post, Andrey Chernyshov reflected on his journey with the historic Kolkata-based club, emphasizing the highs and lows they experienced together. “We won, we lost… and we did a Very Big Thing, we won together in the I-League,” he stated proudly, recalling the team’s success in securing the I-League title and their promotion to the Indian Super League.

The coach expressed gratitude to the players, staff, and fans who stood by him during tough times. Despite the criticism and obstacles, he noted that their collective resilience made them stronger as a team. “I wanted to make a strong team that in a few seasons could fight for the highest places in the ISL,” he said, underscoring his vision for the club’s future.

However, the financial difficulties and unfulfilled contractual obligations forced him to make that most difficult and sad decision, of his coaching career. He placed the blame squarely on the club’s management, stating, “All the blame for this lies with the club’s management, which did not fulfill the terms of the contract”.

Andrey Chernyshov concluded his post by expressing his love for the club and its supporters, wishing them all the best for the future. This marks the end of a significant chapter for one of the Kolkata giant Mohammedan SC under Andrey Chernyshov’s leadership, which brought both triumph and challenges. Fans and football enthusiasts will remember his contribution and efforts to Indian football, and towards the club, as he helped the club to came under the spotlight again.

The club has yet to release an official statement regarding the termination or their plans for a new head coach.
