The All India Football Federation (AIFF) honoured the best in Indian football with its annual AIFF Awards 2025 on Friday, with Subhasish Bose and Soumya Guguloth taking home the top honours as the Men’s and Women’s Footballers of the Year respectively.
Subhasish Bose Leads from the Front in Stellar Season
Subhasish Bose, who captains Mohun Bagan Super Giant, had a standout 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season, leading his side to a historic League Winners’ Shield and ISL Cup double — only the second team in ISL history to achieve the feat.
Operating as a dynamic left-back, Bose contributed significantly in both defence and attack. He scored six goals and provided one assist, making him the third-highest Indian scorer of the season, only behind Sunil Chhetri (12) and Brison Fernandes (7).
Soumya Guguloth Stars in East Bengal’s IWL Triumph

East Bengal forward/winger Soumya Guguloth was named the Women’s Player of the Year after an excellent campaign in the Indian Women’s League (IWL). She netted nine goals and played a vital role in guiding her team to the league title, marking a significant achievement for the Red and Gold Brigade.
Young Talent Recognised: Brison Fernandes and Thoibisana Chanu Shine

FC Goa’s Brison Fernandes was awarded the Most Promising Men’s Player of the Year after a breakthrough season where he scored seven goals, added two assists, and earned his debut for the Indian national team. His performances helped the Gaurs reach the ISL semi-finals.
On the women’s side, Thoibisana Chanu of Sreebhumi FC clinched the Most Promising Player of the Year honour. Her solid defensive displays were pivotal in Sreebhumi FC’s impressive third-place finish in their debut IWL season.

Coaching and Goalkeeping Excellence

Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil won the Men’s Coach of the Year award for the second consecutive time, while Sujata Kar was named the Women’s Coach of the Year for her exceptional work with newly-promoted Sreebhumi FC.

In the goalkeeping department, Vishal Kaith of Mohun Bagan was awarded the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, while Elangbam Panthoi Chanu of East Bengal earned the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year title, having kept the most clean sheets in the IWL.
