Mohammedan SC Beat Sribhumi FC 3-1 in CFL 2025 Group B Clash

Kolkata, August 14: Mohammedan SC sealed a 3-1 victory over Sribhumi FC in the ongoing Calcutta Football League at the Bibhutibhusan Bandhopadhay Stadium, Barrackpore on Thursday. With two consecutive win they moved to 9th in the points table with 9 points from 8 matches.

In a high-stakes Group B clash, where both sides were desperate for points, the game started at a measured pace with only a few attacking threats from either end. Mohammedan SC, sitting 11th in the table and in need of a win to avoid relegation, tried to take early control. Sribhumi FC, positioned 8th and chasing a place in the last six, were equally determined.

The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Adison delivered a cross from the right. The Sribhumi keeper, attempting to grip the ball, slipped, and with the defence failing to clear, Shiba Mandi slot it into the net, giving Mohammedan a 1–0 lead.

However, their leading scoreline was short-lived. Just a minute later, in the 19th, Rabi Das sent a minus from the leftside of the box . A defensive lapse from Mohammedan allowed Artira Ghosh to capitalize, placing the ball into the net to bring Sribhumi level at 1–1. The remainder of the half saw both sides struggling to increase the tempo, with possession exchanges in midfield and limited clear-cut chances.

The second half began with Mohammedan SC and Sribhumi FC locked at 1–1. The game’s pace picked up, with Mohammedan showing more intent going forward.

In the 63rd minute, Adison sent a ball from the right towards the far post, where Bikash Singh was completely unmarked with the goalkeeper was not there. However, he failed to connect with the ball, missing a golden opportunity to restore Mohammedan’s lead.

The Black And White Army restored their lead in the 79th minute. Sajal Bag, from the right side of the box, squared the ball to substitute Lalthankima, who controlled well, and unleashed his shot past the keeper to make it 2–1 for Mohammedan.

Sribhumi FC’s hopes were crushed deep into stoppage time. In the 90+3rd minute, Adison produced a moment of brilliance, on a solo counterattack from the left, entering the box chipping the ball over the keeper and into the net to seal the game at 3–1, and all three points for Mohammedan SC.
