Mohun Bagan SG Chase Historic ISL Glory as They Host Odisha FC in Crucial Clash on 23.02.2025

Kolkata, February 22: Mohun Bagan SG will host the crucial clash against Odisha FC tomorrow at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan from 7:30 PM, which is equally crucial for Sergio Lobera’s Odisha FC as well.

At the top of the table for a long time, Mohun Bagan SG has been sitting there, strengthening their spot tightly. The defending League Shield champions are one step behind in their 2024-25 ISL League Shield. They have a possible chance to collect a record-breaking number of points in a single season by any team in ISL history, as they now have 49 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Odisha FC is sitting in 7th place with 29 points from 21 matches, competing for a playoff spot.

Injury concerns are almost over for the Mariners, as the whole squad trained in the matchday-minus training, except for Sahal Abdul Samad, who is not match-fit yet. On the other hand, Ahmed Jahouh left the club without informing them, which means he will not be available for Odisha FC in tomorrow’s clash. The club now wants to take legal action on this.

The Mariners have kept five consecutive clean sheets in the ISL and can become the first team to reach six in a row. Odisha FC last won at this venue on December 12, in this season, beating East Bengal. A win now would mark their first back-to-back victories here in ISL history.

If tonight’s fixture between Kerala Blasters FC and FC Goa sees Kerala win, then Mohun Bagan SG will not need to wait for tomorrow’s clash, as Goa dropping points will secure them the Shield. However, Molina is not focusing on that, he is focused on his team’s performance, as he stated in the pre-match conference.
COACHES VIEW:

One step back, one win away! Molina’s men stay focused for the Odisha clash!

One more match. We know everybody knows that it could be right. But for us, we have to go to the pitch and try to do what we are doing so far—try to fight, try to play well, and try to win. The goal is one more match for us—the next one. Three crucial points. We need to do what we are doing from the beginning, work hard, defend, attack—everybody together. We need to fight well to win all three points” he Said.

Balance is key! Lobera wants to keep the focus on that!

We need to maintain a balance and limit their chances, as it could be dangerous against this opponent,” he said.
