Mohun Bagan Is My Family: Alberto’s Heartfelt Message Ahead of Punjab Clash!
On 26 December, the Mariners will travel to Delhi to play their last fixture of the year against the Shers. Both teams lost their previous matches but have been having a rhythmic season nonetheless. Mohun Bagan SG sits at the top of the group table with 26 points from 12 matches, while Punjab FC currently stands 7th with 18 points from 11 matches.
In the previous match against East Bengal FC, Lhungdim received a red card, making him unavailable for Punjab FC in this match. On the other hand, injury concerns have increased in the Mohun Bagan squad. While Greg Stewart is already sidelined for a few more matches, Dimitrios suffered an injury in the previous match against FC Goa.
In the pre-match press conference, head coach Jose Molina said that along with Stewart and Dimi, Ashique and Glan Martins will be unavailable for the Punjab FC fixture. Molina also added regarding their opponents, “I don’t want to talk too much about the opponent. They have a good team and good players, a good coach, and are a difficult team to play against. They are doing a good job this season. It will be a tough match for us, but hopefully, we can have our performance”.
The day after Christmas, Mohun Bagan SG will face Punjab FC. During this time, all the players, team officials, and staff will be focused on their professional duties, with no vacation time. In the pre-match press conference, Alberto Rodríguez stated, “All professional players have their family, but at this moment, my family is here, Mohun Bagan, my teammates, and, of course, all the fans. I want to thank them for their support every day, every moment. We go to Punjab for three points. Thank you, all of you.”
Mohun Bagan fans celebrated Christmas with the team
Regarding their opponents’ performance, Molina and Alberto said they expect their best performance on the pitch to earn all three points, making it a special Christmas, for the Mariners. After the training session on December 24, a Mohun Bagan fan club named “Rokte Amar Mohun Bagan” (RAMB) came to pre-celebrate the Christmas with all the MB players, coaching staff, and officials, showing heartfelt gestures by gifting Christmas presents and cutting cakes.
