Resilient 9-Man East Bengal FC Secures First ISL Point in Goalless Kolkata Derby Standoff with Mohammedan SC

In tonights exhilarating Kolkata derby at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan between Emami East Bengal FC and Mohammedan SC, the match ended in a goalless draw with plenty of action-packed moments.

The match between the two Kolkata giants started at a slow pace. After five minutes, East Bengal FC began playing more attacking football. In the 14th minute, Hijazi committed a rough foul on Franca just outside the box, but Mohammedan SC couldn’t capitalise on the opportunity.

In the 21st minute, East Bengal FC got a free kick in the same position just outside the box after Remsanga committed a foul. Madih Talal took a powerful shot, but debutant keeper Bhaskar Roy made a great save.

But after the 26th minute, the drama began when Nanda Kumar committed an illegal foul on Amarjit and received a direct red card. Following this decision, East Bengal FC grew fired up, and Mahesh Naorem displayed reckless and disrespectful behavior in front of the fourth official, resulting in a yellow card. Since he had already received a yellow card earlier, he was also sent off the field.

Within 30 minutes, East Bengal FC was down to 9 men. However, the halftime score remained goalless for both teams as Mohammedan couldn’t capitalize on their chances.

In the second half, East Bengal started with attacking football. In the 56th minute, during an attack, Madih Talal took a shot from outside the box, but Gaurav Bora made a great defensive move.

In the 67th minute, Mohammedan got a great chance when Adinga made a run down the left flank and went inside the box, but goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill made a great save. He came off his line and secured the ball with his safe hand.

As time passes by East Bengal shifted to a defensive game, and Mohammedan got numerous chances. They created various goal-bound moves but couldn’t take the lead or capitalize on their opponent’s situation.

Despite showcasing a dominant performance, the Black and White Army couldn’t manage to take the lead. However, with nine men, East Bengal managed to secure their first-ever point in the ongoing ISL from this big match.

With this match result, both teams remain in the same position they were in on the group table. At the bottom, East Bengal FC now stands with one point from seven matches, and Mohammedan SC is in 11th position with five points from seven matches.
