Dominant Mohun Bagan SG Clinch 3-0 Victory Over Mohammedan SC in Kolkata Derby Showdown

COMMANDING THE FIRST HALF: In Control of the Green and Maroons and Leading the Way!

In the Kolkata Derby, Mohammedan SC started the match with high-pressing football. However, in the 8th minute, Jamie Maclaren’s flying header gave Mohun Bagan SG the lead. The Mariners picked up the game’s momentum after taking the lead.

In the 13th minute, Cummins took a shot from the edge of the box. The keeper was off his line, but Mohammedan SC defender Zuidika made a great save and cleared the ball away.

On the left flank, Joseph collided with Subhasish Bose, and in the 31st minute, Mohun Bagan SG earned a free kick. Liston took the free kick, delivering the ball into the box, and Subhasish converted it into the Mariners’ second goal.

Within five minutes Mohun Bagan got their third goal, Subhasish passed the ball to Stewart from the left. He made a quick run and took a long strike from the mid-edge of the box, changing the score to 3-0 in favor of Mohun Bagan SG before the second half.

SECOND-HALF SCENE

The Mariners mirrored the same control and intensity as in the first. Mohun Bagan SG resumed the second half where they left off, with dominance and attacking force. In the 57th minute, Mohammedan got their best chance of the match to open the scoring. Kasimov took a shot from the left corner of the post, but Vishal Kaith made a crucial save.

In the 66th minute, Mohun Bagan launched a quick attack. Stewart made a run with the ball from midfield, cutting through three Black and White Army ballers, and took a long shot, but it went over the top of the bar.

Mohun Bagan attempted various shots in the second half, but no goals came. The first Kolkata Derby of the Indian Super League 2024-25 season ended with total dominance and 3-0 in favor of the Green and Maroon Brigade against Mohammedan.
