On 12 September, Emami East Bengal FC started their Super Six round in sensational fashion. After their big comeback win against Calcutta Customs, coach Bino George said, “Attack is the best defense.” With an attacking strategy, East Bengal FC entered the field and won the match with a 4-1 score against
Calcutta Customs.
Calcutta Customs is the only team with whom East Bengal FC drew in the group stage, otherwise, East Bengal FC won 11 out of 12 matches and advanced to the Calcutta Football League 2024 Super Six with 34 points.
In the 25th minute, Calcutta Customs took the lead with Robi Hansda’s goal from an aerial ball from the right wing. He received the ball, took a turn, and placed it into the net; the move was incredible.

However, in front of East Bengal’s attacking force, they couldn’t hold the lead for too long. In the 45th minute, after several goal-bound attempts by East Bengal, they found the net with Shyamal Besra’s header.

Within one minute, inside the box from Jesin TK’s inch-perfect back pass, PV Vishnu scored the second goal for East Bengal FC, taking the lead over Calcutta Customs.

In the second half, in the 51st minute, PV Vishnu scored his brace with a defense-splitting shot, making the score 3-1 for East Bengal FC.

Super-sub Adil Amal then scored the fourth and final goal for East Bengal in their first Super Six match on September 12. From Sanjib Ghosh’s aerial cross, Adil placed the ball into the net.

Throughout the match, East Bengal FC played very attacking football. Initially, Calcutta Customs’ defense looked strong, but after conceding back-to-back goals just before halftime, their defense looked scattered for the rest of the match. Still, Calcutta Customs’ defense managed to make two crucial goal-saving efforts during the match.PV Vishnu was awarded the Man of the Match for his two goals and outstanding performance.
