India U17 will face Myanmar twice as Mehrajuddin Wadoo prepares his squad for November’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
India’s U17 men’s national team will travel to Myanmar for two international friendlies as head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo continues to prepare his young side for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Qualifiers.
Blue Colts head to Myanmar for two friendlies
The India U17 team will leave for Myanmar on October 2, with two closed-door friendlies against the hosts lined up for October 4 and 7. Both matches will be played at the StarCity Sports Club in Thanlyin, with kick-off scheduled for 2 PM IST.
The Blue Colts have been in camp in Margao, Goa, since September as Wadoo and his coaching staff work on building the squad ahead of the qualifiers. The two games will give the players an opportunity to get more international match experience and allow the coaching staff to assess different combinations.
Wadoo has named a 23-player squad for the Myanmar tour. The goalkeeping department includes Arnav Rajendra Pandhare, Maroof Shafi and Newtan Irengbam.
Abhishek Kumar Mondal, Lawmsangzuala, Leo Thongbam, Malem Laishram, Malsawmtluanga, Yumnam Maldino Singh and Zoramdinthara make up the defensive options.
The midfield features Dallalmuon Gangte, Henthoiba Keisam, Irom David Mangang, Ningthoujam Mukundo Singh, R Lawmsangzuala and Thiyam Sambay, while Hrishikesh Charan Manavathi, Jasmeet Singh, Kamgouhao Doungel, Md Sahir Ali, Rahan Ahmed, Raj Singh Wahengbam and Ristik Maity have been selected among the forwards.
India begins road to Malaysia qualifiers
The Myanmar fixtures come at an important point in India’s preparations for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Qualifiers. India have been drawn in Group E alongside hosts Malaysia, Palestine, Singapore and Guam.
The qualifiers will be held in Kuala Lumpur from November 11 to 20, giving Wadoo and his players just over a month to fine-tune their preparations.
For the young Blue Colts, the Myanmar tour will be about more than just the results. The two matches will provide valuable minutes, help the coaching staff identify areas that need improvement and give the players a chance to build confidence before the competitive campaign begins.
