Farukh Choudhary returns to Mumbai City FC after five years, bringing 126 ISL appearances and international experience to the Islanders.

Kolkata, October 1: Five years ago, Farukh Choudhary was only beginning to make his mark at Mumbai City FC. Now, he returns to the Islanders with a very different story behind him.

Mumbai City FC have brought the Maharashtra-born attacker back to the club, with Farukh signing a deal that will keep him in Mumbai until the end of the 2026-27 season.

His first stint with the Islanders came during the 2020-21 ISL season, when he made six appearances. What followed was a long run of football away from Mumbai, with spells at Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC helping him become a much more experienced ISL player, currently the winger is in the India camp preparing for the much awaited Brazil, Uruguay friendly clash.

Farukh now comes back having played 126 ISL matches, with seven goals and 10 assists to his name. His journey has also taken him onto the international stage, with 24 appearances for India and three goals for the Blue Tigers.

There is therefore a sense of a full circle in his return. The player who once featured only a handful of times for Mumbai City is now coming back after years of regular top-flight football and international experience.

For Mumbai City, his arrival also brings another attacking option into Manolo Marquez’s squad. Farukh’s ability to operate in different attacking roles gives the coach another versatile player to work with as the Islanders prepare for the new season.

And for Farukh, it is a return to a familiar badge, but with plenty having changed since the last time he wore it.

Farukh Choudhary on returning to Mumbai City FC:

“Coming back to Mumbai City means a lot to me. I have had some really good memories here, and I am happy to be back with the club. I am looking forward to the new season, working hard with the team and giving my best on the pitch. We have a strong squad and big ambitions, and I want to contribute as much as I can and help the team achieve its goals”.
