Mohun Bagan SG prepare for the new season as speculation grows over Panagiotis Dilmperis becoming the club’s next head coach.
Kolkata, June 16: As soon as the 2025–26 football season came to an end, Mohun Bagan SG began preparations for the upcoming campaign. With the Calcutta Football League and the pre-season Durand Cup approaching in July’s end, the club has already started building for the new season. And searching for a new head coach.
With player signings underway and Bastob Roy in charge of the CFL squad, the Mariners have already begun their preparations for the Calcutta Football League.
On the senior team front, departures and arrivals have started taking shape. Centre-back Tom Aldred parted ways with the club after a dominant two-year spell in green and maroon. Meanwhile, former Sher Samir Zeljkovic joined the club from Punjab FC a few days ago.
Following a successful spell, former head coach Jose Molina left the club midway through the previous season in November 2025. He was replaced by former Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera on a short-term contract, under whom the Mariners completed their ISL 2025–26 campaign.
Now, the touchline may soon have a new leader. A familiar face from the Indian football circuit, with years of experience and several successes in the Indian football landscape, could be set to take charge as Mohun Bagan SG prepares for a new chapter.
A proven figure in Indian football, known for his experience and achievements on the touchline, may soon be at the centre of that chapter. For now, the speculation remains just that, but the roar around the Maidan are certainly growing louder.
Several names have been linked with the role in recent weeks, but one name appears to be gathering significant momentum — Panagiotis Dilmperis. While the club is yet to make anything official. For now, it may just be a matter of time before the next leader of the Green and Maroon is revealed.
