Kolkata, February 27: The ISL 2026 season’s first derby will kick off tomorrow as Mohun Bagan Super Giant face Mohammedan Sporting Club from 7:30 PM, at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
Having won their first two matches, the Mariners are heading in the right direction in their title defence campaign. Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC, despite losing their opening two games with an all-Indian squad, have posed a serious threat to their opponents and have not allowed them much space for an easy win. Mohun Bagan SG Head coach Sergio Lobera believes this derby is also a great opportunity for his opponent to prove themselves on a big platform with an all-Indian lineup.
Sergio Lobera feels this match is a big chance for Indian players to prove their quality. In simple words, he is saying that this situation is different from most ISL seasons, because Mohammedan Sporting Club are playing mainly with Indian players. According to him, the hard work on the training ground and the growing confidence within the squad show that Mohammedan are ready to put up a strong fight against a tough opponent.
