Edmund Lalrindika lights the Moshal as East Bengal move forward in a confident ISL 2025-26 run

Kolkata, February 21: East Bengal FC continued their confident start to the new Indian Super League season with a 4–1 victory over SC Delhi at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday evening.

The visitors broke the deadlock first and stunned the home crowd early. In the 3rd minute, a perfect through ball from Joseph Sunny found Augustine, who received the pass on the right, entered the box, cut past Jay Gupta, and placed the ball into the lower corner at the far post to give SC Delhi the lead.

East Bengal responded quickly. In the 7th minute, the Red and Gold earned a free-kick. Bipin Singh delivered the ball into the box, where the SC Delhi defence managed only a partial clearance. The loose ball fell to Edmund Lalrindika, who fired a stunner shot into the net to restore the score at 1–1.

Momentum firmly shifted to East Bengal’s way just four minutes later. In the 11th minute, Edmund earned a penalty after being stopped inside the box by Savio Fernandes. Although Savio appeared stunned and seemed to be attempting to play the ball rather than the man, the referee pointed to the spot. Youssef Ezzejjari stepped up and converted the penalty to put East Bengal 2–1 ahead.

A change proved decisive for the hosts, as Edmund replaced Saul Crespo in the lineup. After conceding early, Edmund transformed the game, contributing directly to two crucial goals and lifting the tempo for the Red and Gold.

East Bengal extended their advantage in the 40th minute. Miguel sent a precise ball into the box, which Ezzejjari finished with composure, placing it neatly into the net. The goal completed Ezzejjari’s brace and made it 3–1, taking his tally to four goals in two matches this season.

The home side continued to press after the break. In the 86th minute, East Bengal launched another attack from the left, with Miguel attempting a shot that was well saved by SC Delhi keeper Vishal Yadav.

However, the final word belonged to East Bengal. In stoppage time at 90+5th reminiscent of the previous match but executed with even greater quality, Miguel rushed forward with the ball and unleashed a stunning long-range effort that found the back of the net, sealing a dominant 4–1 victory.
