Kolkata, February 20: After a commanding start to their Indian Super League 2025–26 campaign, East Bengal FC are set to return home tomorrow as they take on SC Delhi. The Red and Gold Brigade will be in action from 5:00 PM at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. With confidence high and home support behind them, East Bengal will aim to continue their momentum.
In the previous match against the Highlanders, Oscar Bruzon’s team showed compact football in both defence and attack. With that momentum, they have now added their sixth foreigner to further strengthen the attack, Danish striker Anton Sojsberg, who had been facing visa issues but joined the team on Thursday and trained fully. He also looked sharp in the matchday minus one session. Meanwhile, Rakip has returned to training after recovering from his injury, though Mahesh Naorem and Kevin Cibille are yet to recover from their injuries.
Oscar emphasised a measured and disciplined approach, stating that the team will progress game by game and battle by battle. He acknowledged that the league is short, where even minor mistakes can have significant consequences. He also clarified that there is no unnecessary pressure on the squad. The primary objective is to improve their position in the ISL rather than set overly ambitious targets. Overall, his statement reflects realism and composure. He believes the team has the potential to perform better than in previous seasons, while maintaining a balanced and focused mindset.
Jeakson’s words match Oscar’s message. Like the coach, he also speaks about focus and steady progress. He says the team has been preparing well for the last six months and is fully committed to achieving the dream they set at the start of the season.
He understands that the league is short, but he sounds confident because of the hard work, training sessions, and matches they have already gone through. His statement supports the coach’s calm approach, staying focused, working hard, and believing in improvement rather than talking about big promises.
Though SC Delhi are new participants, most of their players and coach Tomasz have been involved in the ISL for a long time. As they are yet to open their account this season, the match will not be easy. Despite winning their first match with confidence, East Bengal FC will not consider this game an easy one, as SC Delhi will step onto the pitch with the same hunger and determination to secure their first points.
East Bengal FC’s Coach’s view:
Speaking about the upcoming challenge Oscar made it clear that his side is well prepared. The coach believes his team has gathered enough understanding of their opponents and knows what is required to approach the game in the right way.
“We have the chance to watch them in the Super Cup, also in the first game of the league against a demanding rival, Bangalore. And we also know some of the players from last year. So I think that we have enough information to understand what we need to do tomorrow to try to get the best possible result.”
