Missed Chances, Solid Defences: Sundarban Bengal Auto FC Held to Frustrating 0–0 Draw vs JHR Royal City FC

Kolkata, January 11: In the ongoing Bengal Super League Sundarban Bengal Auto FC and JHR Royal City FC played out a goalless draw in an entertaining encounter on Sunday afternoon at the Canning Sports Complex, with both sides creating several chances but failing to find the finishing touch.

The match saw an early exchange of attacking intent, with both teams looking to break the deadlock through quick counter-attacks. In the 21st minute, Richmond combined well with Shyam Kumar in a neat one-two move before Shyam unleashed a long-range effort on target. However, JHR Royal keeper Sourav Samanta stayed alert and safely gathered the shot.

Minutes later, JHR Royal City FC responded with a swift counter-attack. Samir Bayen found himself in a promising position inside the box from close range, but Sundarban Bengal Auto FC goalkeeper Subrata Santra made a crucial save to deny the opener.

JHR Royal continued to push forward and came close again in the 36th minute. Faisal Ali delivered a well-weighted ball into the box from the right flank, but Irfan Sardar failed to make contact, letting a golden chance slip away.

After the break, JHR Royal City FC maintained their attacking momentum. In the 51st minute, Joao Vitor made a pass from the right side of the box to Irfan Sardar, who was just a touch away from scoring from close to the goal line. Once again, the lack of composure in the final moment kept the scoreline unchanged.

Sundarban Bengal Auto FC had their one of best chance in the 54th minute when Richmond won a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box. Shyam Kumar stepped up and struck a powerful effort that hitted the crossbar. The rebound fell back into the box, but Sundarban failed to capitalise on the loose ball.

As the match progressed, Richmond and Sundarban Bengal Auto FC created a few more half-chances, but solid defending and alert goalkeeping from both sides ensured neither team could find a breakthrough.

Despite the goalless scoreline, the match remained competitive and engaging, with both teams showing attacking intent throughout. In the end, Sundarban Bengal Auto FC and JHR Royal City FC had to settle for a point each after a hard-fought 0–0 draw.
