Kolkata, July 15: In the ongoing Calcutta Football League 2025 campaign, Mamoni Group Patha Chakra defeated East Bengal FC with a late goal to end their long unbeaten streak, to maintain their unbeaten streak securing a 1-0 win on Tuesday at the Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay Stadium in Barrackpore.
The match wasn’t hard-fought, but it seemed difficult for the Red and Gold to break through Patha Chakra’s defense. They launched several attacks from the kick-off, but the Patha Chakra backline stood strong. Goalkeeper Arnab Das, who recently lost his mother, was tested multiple times but displayed an unbeaten and confident performance, maintaining his clean sheet. With this match, Patha Chakra have now gone four games without conceding a goal.
In the first half, East Bengal launched several goal-bound attacks in search of an early breakthrough. Muhammed Roshal was particularly active on the wings, creating multiple chances with his runs and deliveries into the box. Despite dominating possession and putting pressure on the opposition, East Bengal couldn’t convert their opportunities, as Patha Chakra’s defense remained compact and disciplined throughout the opening half.
Following the first half, East Bengal carried their momentum into the second half, with urgency increasing as time went on. They pushed higher up the pitch and continued to test Patha Chakra’s defense. In the 66th minute, East Bengal created a promising chance when substitute Jesin TK passed the ball to Aman CK, who unleashed a shot from the right inside corner of the box. However, the shot went over the crossbar. The opportunity could have been better utilized, as more Red and Gold shirts were present and well-positioned inside the box.

However, in the 88th minute, Patha Chakra broke the deadlock and scored the opener. David Motla made a run into the box, and as Aditya Patra came off his line, Motla calmly placed the ball into the net. In added time, at the 90+6th minute, Arnab Das blocked one of East Bengal’s crucial goal-bound moves to preserve the lead. Aman CK received the ball inside the box and, amid the scramble, attempted a shot which the goalkeeper came off his line to save.
With that 1-0 win, Patha Chakra remained at the top of Group A with 12 points from 4 matches. Meanwhile, East Bengal FC saw their unbeaten streak, carried over from the previous season, come to an end.

Patha Chakra’s long-time goalkeeper Arnab Das, who lost his father a few months ago and his mother just two days back, rose above personal grief and emotions to deliver a flawless performance. Despite facing numerous attacks, he stood strong till the final whistle, like a true warrior. The seasoned professional showcased a standout display between the posts.
