Mohun Bagan Super Giant Held to 1-1 Draw by Calcutta Police Club Despite Dominant Display

After wining against Peerless Club in their previous match, again Mohun Bagan Super Giant has ended up today’s match against Calcutta Police Club with a 1-1 scoreline, today at Kalyani Stadium . Again not a expected match results for the Mariners as per the statistics, and not a expected performance by Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

In the first half, Mohun Bagan Super Giant created several chances of scoring, Calcutta Police Club’s attacks were sporadic but included few dangerous counters. After cooling breaks, at 31’st minutes Sahil Rahman committed a foul on Tongsin in the outside of the box, with that collision Tongsin got injured, that Calcutta Police Club’s player conceded an yellow card for his late challenge. Mohun Bagan Super Giant coach Cardozo had to make a force change, Tongsin came out of the field with a head injury and Fardin Ali came on in to the field.

At 40’th minute Mohun Bagan Super Giant got a corner, substitute player Fardin Ali took that corner, delivered an accurate center into the box and Suhail Bhat send the ball into the net with his strongest header. What a center by Fardin just like a super-sub, and a perfect header from Suhail Bhat, first goal for Mohun Bagan Super Giant. At 45’th minute Ranjit Sardar made a late Challenge on Suhail Bhat inside the box and Mohun Bagan Super Giant got a penalty, Fardin Ali took that shot but got saved by Calcutta Police Club’s keeper Mohidul Kayal, a very confident save by the keeper.

With a controlled 66% percent of ball possession and numerous shots Mohun Bagan Super Giant has ended up the first half with 1-0 scoreline. In the other side Calcutta Police club were focused on maintaining a solid defensive shape.

In the second half, at 52’nd minute Mohun Bagan Super Giant build up an attack when Leewan Castanha goes inside the box with the ball got tackled by Substitute player Jishnu, again a late challenged inside the box and a penalty. Abhishek Suryawanshi took that penalty but, the shot was just goes out of top of the bar. Back to back two penalties, but no changes came into the scoreboard. Within three minutes with a counter attack Rabi Das scored the equaliser goal for Calcutta Police Club, with a long ranger shot and his individual brilliancy. Infront of four defenders he took that shot, nobody made a mark or challenged on him, not a commendable defending by Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

At 62’nd minute Rabi Das took a shot from the left wing but, got saved by Mohun Bagan Super Giant goalkeeper. At 74’min from an attack Fardin Ali passed the ball into box for Suhail Bhat, but Calcutta Police Club’s defender Pritam Kundu played a very good defensive role. At 90’th minute Mohun Bagan Super Giant build an attack, substitute player Ravi Bahadur Rana center a ball from the right wing for Substitute player Tapan Haldar but he couldn’t reached to the ball.

In today’s match between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Calcutta Police Club, two players were send out of the field after conceded red cards , the only scorer of Calcutta Police Club’s Rabi Das and Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s captain Abhishek Suryawanshi, both of them conceded double yellow cards. Rabi Das got today’s Man Of the Match award with his brilliant performance.
